8:30-10:30 am 2010 ADA Standards for Recreation Facilities: Amusement, Recreational Boating, Fishing Facilities, Swimming Pools and Spas Presented by Bill Botten, Training and Technical Assistance Coordinator, U.S. Access Board This course will examine the technical and scoping requirements under the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design for four sections of Chapter 10 “Recreation Facilities”. The minimum requirements for amusement rides, recreational boating facilities, fishing piers and platforms, and swimming pools and spas will be presented. Come and explore what makes these unique facilities accessible

This course will examine the technical and scoping requirements under the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design for four sections of Chapter 10 “Recreation Facilities”. The minimum requirements for golf facilities, miniature golf courses, sports facilities (including press boxes) and play areas will be presented. Come and explore what makes these unique facilities accessible.

1:00-3:00 pm Updates and Information about the Architectural Barriers Program Presented by Marsha Godeaux, Program Specialist VI, Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation This course provides an update on several topics from the Architectural Barriers program which are evolving or need some clarification including HB 3163, TABS, RAS license renewal and RAS Procedures.

3:00-5:00 pm Accessible Dormitory and Residential Projects Presented by Gene Boecker, AIA, RAS, Accessibility Project Manager, Code Consultants This presentation addresses the various laws, codes and standards that are used by various federal, state and local agencies to address accessibility in residential facilities. Depending on where the project is located, whether it is new or existing and whether federal financial assistance is provided, the codes and standards which apply may vary widely.  The program is generally advanced simply due to the complexity of the information.  However, it should be understandable to individuals with a solid understanding of accessibility standards.
