Biography
Douglas W. Darr and wife Teresa L. Darr founded ACCESSIBILITY CHECK in January of 1995. The firm's original focus was TDLR plan reviews and inspections checking for compliance with the Texas Accessibility Standards. From this foundation the firm now offers a variety of services centered on accessible design and compliance issues for TAS, ADA, and ABA Accessibility Guidelines, HUD Section 504, UFAS, ANSI A117.1, and Fair Housing. Doug is a licensed architect with over 30 years of experience. He is a registered accessibility specialist in the state of Texas and is certified by the International Code Council as an Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner. Doug is also a charter member in the Texas Registered Accessibility Specialist Association (TRASA) and continues to serve actively in that organization. Doug has served on the Executive Board, as President, Vice President, and Treasurer.
As design professionals we assume a great deal of responsibility for planning the physical environment and through design should be instrumental in making the man made environment accessible for all.
