Stacey will celebrate 20 years in the field of accessibility in January 2020. She got her start working for the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR) as a plan reviewer shortly after receiving her BS in Interior Design.
Having worked for TDLR for seven years, she gained extensive knowledge of statutory, administrative and technical requirements of both state and federal accessibility compliance. While at TDLR, Stacey was named the Communication, Education, and Training Team Leader and was responsible for official technical communications of the Architectural Barriers department. Some favorite projects were leading the initiative to train Building Officials on state law, designing training for Registered Accessibility Specialists, and working with the Texas Historical Commission on the Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program.
After leaving TDLR in 2007, Stacey formed her Accessibility Consulting business. Working in the central Texas area, she primarily focuses on performing plan reviews and inspections in accordance with the Texas Architectural Barriers Act and helps business owners validate ADA and TAS complaints. In 2016, she received her MS in Construction Management from Louisiana State University and spent the following year teaching in the Interior Design department at Texas State University.
Licensed as a Registered Accessibility Specialist and Registered Interior Designer in Texas, Stacey holds the APA/ADA Specialist designation from the Accessibility Professionals Assn. (APA). She has participated on APA’s Legislative, Membership, Scholarship and Technical Committees. She is also a member of the International Interior Designers Assn. (IIDA), and the Texas Assn. of Interior Designers (TAID).
Stacey is currently the Secretary for the LSU Austin Alumni Board of Directors, and is also on the Board of the Women’s Symphony League of Austin planning the 66th Annual Jewel Ball for 2020. Stacey and her husband Joel have two sons, Emmett (13) and Fox (11). Stacey loves researching genealogy for family and friends and going to music concerts of all genres in her spare time.
